something new to add

Whew.

Way too long since I have been in here. I am afraid that life just got really complicated an dI failed to sit and do what I do best much- write.

While he was down here for a visit earlier this year, my nephew Aaron took on a Herculean task for me- he took some slides my dad had shot on one of the camping trips I was talking about earlier in this blog, and put them up on the Net. They came out really well, and struck some memory chords in me big time. With his permission, here's the link:

This was part of our move from Tacoma- Ft Lewis- to Washington ,D.C. As one can see, I was am impressionable tot of about 5, and probably didn't take in as much of the awe-inspiring scenery as I might have, but hey. I was five. The chipmunks were much more my style.

I do remember at one camp ground the dog pulled her chain out of the ground and managed to catch a chipmunk, mortally wounding it. I was really upset by this, but no one cared or noticed at the time. I did think in the back of my head that shoving the dying creature back down into its borrow wasn't the right way to handle it, but wouldn't have known what else to do. The whole thing left me with a bittersweet feeling about the dog. She showed her cocker side with the hunting skill, but that still wasn't cool, or necessary. She was well fed. I always wondered if that chipmunk had babies down there that starved as a result......

Well, that was a great way to taint the otherwise pretty batch of photos!

Camp life was funny too really. There are a couple of pix of the tent and tarp tht were home for a few weeks. The routine of putting up and taking down the whole camp was something to watch actually. We got pretty good at getting on the road, and then settled in for the night. I love watching people who havent done it before get all involved with non-esstentials, and thus not getting everything done. the Texas Ren-Faire primitive camp grounds are where the newbies are defnitely seperated from the old-timers!

Oh yes- before I sign off for the night, I must point out that in my photography site , there are pictures from a trip out to California in 2004 I took with my best friend, Casey Galindo, to attend a family reunion . We did a fair amount of exploring, which I really should get put on disc and upload. I found a roll of film two years after the trip that needed developing and it turned out to be these pictures. Need to start labeling my film! Beautiful photos though, if I do say so myself.
